Ballet - The root of all dance -  This art...will live forever young and immortal, because beauty lies in the domain of the spirit just as material resides in the physical order; it transforms itself but never dies. ~ Enrico Cecchetti, 1921

The Cecchetti Method of ballet is a style of classical, theatrical dance based on the teachings of the great Italian ballet master Enrico Cecchetti (1850-1928). Born into a family of professional dancers, Maestro Cecchetti had a distinguished career as a principal dancer on the international scene before becoming a teacher of renown. He taught in Russia, Poland, Italy and England and became the private instructor of Anna Pavlova and many other celebrated dancers.

Cecchetti enlarged upon the Italian tradition of teaching, codified by Carlo Blasis, which maintained the balances and proportions of the human body, poised and in movement. The Cecchetti science of classroom practice exacted a co-ordination of arms, legs, and head, which produced a wonderful fluidity of movement, particularly in the upper body.

Graded examinations are scheduled, and qualified examiners are provided, for students across Canada. The purpose of these examinations is to give teachers and students specific goals to work toward and to maintain standards of development consistent with international standards

Tap - Rhythm, Precision, Musicality - Great fun for young and old. Precise steps in rhytmic unison giving students an opportunity to follow exact instruction and add their own personal flare. Set to a variety of music: oldies, show tunes and modern pop, your child will obtain confidence, coordination and an appreciation for this classic and well loved dance form. Students will be taught stagecraft through the use of pattern and direction to develop rhythm and a basic understanding of musical knowledge.

Jazz - Free-spirited, lively and fun! - A classic of dance for those who want more than ballet, or just can't stop moving. Jazz is quick, controlled movement that displays technique and expressions, and promotes endurance and flexibility. Both jazz dance and modern dance techniques are based on the basics of the old ballet tradition, even though both forms were considered to be rebelling against it. To excel in jazz dance, the dancer must master ballet techniques. In jazz dancing the movements are big and exaggerated and there is usually an attitude the dancer conveys to the audience. The attitude would depend on the dance. Jazz dancing is also used in modern dancing as on MTV. Las Vegas showgirls are also jazz dancers. The essence of jazz dance is entertainment to the people, a form of dancing which is easy to understand for anyone seeing it.

Song & Dance / Musical Theatre - The art of performing - If your child is a drama queen or a little ham, they will love this style of dance. Children will learn to sing, dance, act, and above all, perform. Learning how to express yourself on stage, belt out show tunes on key, and perform basic choreography taken from jazz, tap and ballet. The focus of this class is to learn to be comfortable and have fun on stage. (Musiclal Theatre is Song & Dance without the vocals)

Lyrical / Contemporary - Beautiful and expressive -  This creative dance form stems from jazz and ballet. With the modern movement and style of jazz, the strength and control of ballet, and the expression of a true performer. Lyrical dancing is when a dancer takes on the role of an actor and tells a story through technique and emotion. Dancers don't express how they're feeling with voice, but rather with facial expressions and body dynamics. You become the story through the dancing. There should be a connection between the dancer and the music, and you should know why you're dancing to it. When dancing lyrical, emotions and technique go hand in hand. Your child will acquire grace, musicality and stage presence and be given the chance to display their creative abilities. * Dancers wishing to pursue Lyrical will be required to take Ballet Technique.

Conditioning & Flexibility - Core, Balance, Extensions, Splits -  This program is open to all Intermediate, Advanced, and Senior dancers. The class will run  two times a week.
