The Young at Arts Contact The Young at Arts

The YAA Dance Troupe offers technique and competitive classes running from September through June. We offer a high standard of dance education for students ages 4 to adult and dancers of every level. Classes are designed to promote proper dance technique, personal development, fitness, flexibility, musicality and joy of movement. The YAA Dance Troupe students have the opportunity to challenge themselves by entering various dance competitions. Our students also have to opportunity to perform in 3 recitals throughout the year at various area theaters. We believe in community involvement and enjoy performing throughout the Langley area at schools, seniors' centers, festivals, parades and other events. Whether it is a small performance or a big competition, success is knowing you gave it everything you had! Our small classes ensure a positive learning environment where students can focus on technique and development of self-confidence. We strive for excellence while offering a fun and educational environment for all ages.

Private Lessons

All students wishing to take a private/semi-private class must also be enrolled in at least two competing group classes; one in the same style as their solo/duo plus one additional group class. Also, the student must take Ballet Technique, and conditioning (where age permits). Soloists must stand out as positive role models in their group classes. Soloists who miss more than three technique classes may have their solo classes cancelled.

*Due to limited availability private lessons will be scheduled once all group classes have been scheduled.

Intermediate & Advanced Classes

Students taking these classes are required to take Ballet Technique and Conditioning. They will also be participating in one "out of town" competition. (Competition location will be within driving distance).

Lyrical Classes

Students wishing to take Lyrical will be required to take jazz and Ballet Technique.

Musical Theatre

Students wishing to take Musical Theatre will be required to also take jazz and/or tap as well as Ballet Technique.

Ballet

All Dancers taking ballet will be required to have a uniform leotard, which will be available to order from the office at the time of registration for $25.00. Shoe requirements will also change depending on class; shoes will also be available to order from the office for $20.00.

Triple Threat Graduate Program

We are excited to introduce a new program designed for our students moving on from Triple Threat. Dancers will have the opportunity to take competitive Tap and Jazz as well as Ballet Technique at the discounted rate of only $99.00 per month. This is a savings of $195.00 for the year!

Group Voice Lessons

This year we will be expanding our music program! Miss Patricia will be offering group voice lessons as a part of our Dance Troupe. She also has a limited number of spots available for Private and Semi-Private lessons. Please speak with the office if you are interested in singing with Patricia!

Summer Conditioning

This summer we will be offering drop in Conditioning classes for dancers aged 9 and up and their parents. Classes will commence July 4th and run Monday through Thursday from 3:00 - 4:00. Drop in fee will be $10 or purchase a summer pass for $100.

Competitions

As a result of the feedback from our registration questionnaire we have made the decision that this year ALL competitive classes will be participating in three competitions. In past years we have found that most dancers are nervous and just finding their "stage legs" in the first competition. By the second competition they are having fun and getting into the swing of things but then it is all over! Giving all of our dancers a third chance to compete was the logical conclusion.
