INTENSIVE COre TECHNIQUE Classes
Serious dancers ages 6 and up are invited to audition for placement in our Intensive Program. Auditions are held each year in mid June for the upcoming dance season.
Our Intensive Program is designed to foster a strong technical foundation, artistry, and performance skills. To build well-rounded, versatile dancers, we focus on three essential foundation styles: Ballet, Jazz, and Tap. These core disciplines develop the strength, musicality, discipline, and technical vocabulary needed to succeed in all other dance styles.
As part of the Intensive Program, dancers are required to take four mandatory Core Technique classes each week:
Ballet (Twice weekly)
Jazz Technique
Tap Technique
These classes are integral to our training program and ensure continued growth and success in competitive and pre-professional dance.
Ballet
Artistry • Alignment • Grace
Ballet is the foundation of dance training and creates strong, technical, and expressive dancers.
Through ballet, students build proper body alignment, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and artistry while learning discipline and attention to detail. A solid ballet foundation not only improves performance, but also helps reduce the risk of dance-related injuries.
At Young at Arts, we believe ballet is the key to long-term success, and we encourage every dancer to make it the foundation of their dance education.

Tap
Rhythm • Precision • Musicality
Tap dance transforms the dancer into both a musician and a performer.
Using specially designed tap shoes, dancers create intricate rhythms while developing timing, coordination, balance, and musical awareness. Classes feature a wide variety of music, keeping dancers engaged while building confidence and precision.
Tap provides skills that benefit every dancer, improving rhythm, performance quality, and overall musicality.
Jazz
Strength • Style • Performance
Jazz is an energetic, expressive dance style that combines athletic technique with creativity and performance.
Rooted in ballet technique, jazz develops strength, flexibility, coordination, control, and endurance while encouraging dancers to perform with confidence and personality. Dancers learn dynamic movements including jumps, turns, kicks, and expressive choreography that challenge both their technical ability and artistry. Jazz dance is always a crowd pleaser and is a form of dancing that is easily enjoyed and understood by an audience.
Because jazz provides the technical foundation for many dance styles, it is an essential part of every dancer's training. Students interested in Lyrical, Contemporary, Broadway, or Hip Hop are encouraged to build a strong jazz foundation before specializing in these disciplines.
Our Jazz Technique classes continue to develop the skills needed for success across all styles and competitive performance.
