To ensure a positive experience with our studio, please review these important policies and procedures:

Student Placement

At the time of registration, we make every effort to place students in classes that best suit their needs. Class placement is determined with the student’s best interest in mind and is based on age, ability, and experience. All placements will be reviewed once classes begin. Please note that it may be necessary to adjust a student’s placement after the term has started to ensure the most appropriate learning environment.

Communication

Clear communication between the studio and families is essential to a successful year. We will keep families informed about competitions, special events, performances, and general studio updates through email, using the address(es) listed on your Studio Director account.

We ask that families take responsibility for staying up to date by reading all emails, notices, and newsletters carefully and keeping them for reference when needed.

Young at Arts is a Gossip-Free environment. Disrespectful or inappropriate conversations at the studio or during studio events will not be tolerated. Parents engaging in such behavior may be asked to leave, and their child’s enrollment may be reviewed or terminated.

If you have any questions during the year, please contact the office directly at 604-533-2787 or by email. We kindly ask that you do not contact instructors directly.

Attendance, Absenteeism and Punctuality

Consistent attendance is vital to each dancer’s progress and to the success of the group. Dance is a team effort - when one dancer is absent, it affects the entire class’s ability to rehearse and progress. Even if a student feels confident in their choreography, missing class delays the growth of the group as a whole.

If a student must miss a class, please notify the office in advance.

  • Students who miss three choreography or technique classes for any reason will be required to schedule a private makeup lesson at the parent’s expense.

  • Technique absences may be made up by attending another tech class, if available.

  • Consistent absences may affect a student’s eligibility to participate in competitions, at the instructor’s discretion.

Holidays

Tuition is based on a minimum of 30 classes per year and is pro-rated to account for holiday breaks, including Christmas and Spring Break.

Tuition payments are divided across 10 months and are not calculated monthly based on the number of classes per month. Payment is still required for months affected by statutory holidays, competitions, or recitals.

Withdrawal

Registration is a commitment for the full dance year (September to June). Withdrawal for any reason must be given 30 days in advance.

Please note:

  • Non-attendance is not considered a withdrawal, and tuition will continue to be charged until formal notice is received.

  • Administration, photo/video, costume, and competition fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

  • All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing to the office.
