ALYSSA ELSON

Instructor

While most instructors' first venture into the world of dance is predominantly ballet, Alyssa took a more unconventional route on her journey to becoming a dance instructor. It was through a love of cheer and by following in a sister’s footsteps that Alyssa's future in dance began. As time went on, cheer began to lose its lustre and Alyssa started looking for a new challenge to pique her interest. It was then that she found her way into the world of acrobatics and contortion, a move that helped Alyssa get to where she is today as an acrobatics instructor.

Having been trained by some of the top trainers in North America, Alyssa was able to develop her skills as a contortionist, acrobat, aerialist, and dancer, becoming a professional a mere eighteen months after embarking on her path. The next natural progression was to enter the realm of teaching.

Now as an instructor, Alyssa continues to train in aerial hoops, silks, trapeze, acrobatics and harness work, but her first and foremost passion remains with contortion. A native of Vancouver, Alyssa routinely takes her show on the road, performing and teaching around the world and is highly sought after for her passionate and upbeat approach to workshops that make each class dazzle with fun and excitement. Alyssa brought these amazing qualities with her when she joined the Young at Arts as an acrobatics instructor.
