POLICIES & PROCEDURES

To ensure a positive experience with our studio, please review these VERY IMPORTANT policies and procedures: 

Student Placement

At registration, we will do our best to place students into the classes that suit them the best.  The appropriate class level will be determined with the student’s best interest in mind.  Placement will depend on age, ability, and experience.  All placements will be reviewed for appropriateness once classes have started, as it may be necessary to move students, even after the term has begun.

Communication

Communication between the studio and parents is just as important as communication between the students and their teachers.  Throughout the year, emails will be sent to the address(es) on your Studio Director account to keep studio families up to date with competitions, special events, shows, and general studio details.  Please make it your responsibility to stay up to date on what is going on; read your notices and newsletters carefully and thoroughly and save them for future reference.

The Young at Arts is a “Gossip-Free” zone.  Any parents found participating in “colorful” conversation while at the studio or studio event will be asked to leave and their child may be removed from our program without notice.

Attendance, Absenteeism and Punctuality

Regular attendance is extremely important.  Being a part of a group means we have to work together and help each other; we are only as strong as our weakest dancer.  When one dancer is missing from a routine, the entire class is unable to rehearse effectively.  It may seem acceptable for a student to miss a class because they know the dance. However, by doing so, this student is stalling the entire class’s progress.  If a student must miss a class, please notify the office as soon as possible. 

Dancers who miss a competitive class for ANY reason will be expected to book a private “makeup” lesson at their parent’s expense.  Dancers who miss a technique class are expected to attend an alternate class to make it up. If 3 classes are missed, a dancer may be asked to step down from competition.

Make up classes for missed private and semi-private lessons will not be made up regardless of circumstance.  If you know you will be missing a private class please try to switch class times with another student for that week. Students need to arrive on time for their classes and be dressed ready to dance, as warm up is an integral part of class.

Holidays

All prices are indicative of yearly tuition based on a minimum of 30 classes. Holiday time, including Christmas and Spring Break, is factored into tuition. Payments financed over 10 months are not necessarily reflective of one month or four weeks of classes. Payment is due regardless of classes missed due to statutory holidays, competitions, recitals, etc.

Withdrawal

It is understood that registration is for the full year (September – June) of lessons and that the student has an agreement with the studio to complete the year.  Cancellation of a class is only permitted for prolonged illness or injury (doctor’s note required).  Non-attendance is not considered a withdrawal and fees will continue to be charged.  Administration, photo/DVD, costume, and competition fees are non-refundable, regardless of circumstances.  A buyout fee will apply to all packaged fees.  All withdrawal notices must be in letter format and submitted in person to the office during the school year (excluding Christmas and Spring Break).  After December 15, cancellation of a class will not be accepted regardless of circumstances, and all remaining fees will be charged.
